The Appy Party isn’t a political party, it’s an independent and neutral online platform that can be used to share views and VOTE directly on things that impact you on both a local and national level. As someone who feels disengaged with the current political system the APP appeals to me because I can still have a voice, an opinion that counts without it having to be in line with a current political party and what they are favouring this week. This is one of the reasons I accepted a position on the board so I could become more involved with the development of this VOICE tool. Talking of the board… let’s meet them; each member brings an area of expertise which will assist in facilitating the opinions that flood in through the APP.

Susannah Schofield, OBE is Director General of the Direct Selling Association and owner and founder of Dice Matrix Group Ltd, DMM, SportDMM and Pitch DMM. Lembit Opik,

was born in Northern Ireland in 1965, to Estonian parents. He attended school in Belfast during a period of political unrest, which taught him a great deal about social structures and human nature. In 1983, he studied at the University of Bristol in England – first in Aero engineering, then Economics, and finally Philosophy – graduating in 1987. His first international employment was in Advertising with Procter & Gamble – arguably the firm that invented modern marketing. Later, he moved to Human Resources and in 1996 Lembit was promoted to Global Human Resources Training & Development Manager for the firm, which then employed about 112,000 people around the world.

In 1997, Lembit was elected to British Parliament, serving for 13 years. In 2001, he was elected Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrat Party, and during his time as party Leader, the movement achieved its greatest political advances. He saw the potential of politics and the pitfalls of parties, which can serve to unbalance political endeavour for personal or partisan interest.

Lembit is been very active in writing, broadcasting and public affairs. He is a published author of fiction and non-fiction, and a commentator on international programmes. He’s had a go at stand-up and describes himself as ‘knowing everything there is to know about marketing yourself well and badly.’ More than anything, he’s an optimist about people and life, and tends ‘to see the best in people and the future.’ His ambition now is to reconnect the public with policy-makers, reminding the political system they work for the people, not the other way round.
