People often start a new year by setting goals that may well fall into oblivion. Others have weight loss and fitness objectives and people like me simply embrace the fact that I am still here to make new choices in my life! Sounds a bit deep, but it’s true. Over the past 12 months my whole world has once again changed and although some circumstances were beyond my control, many changes have come about because I have consciously made them.

Two years ago I was Editor of the Kent Women in Business Magazine, one year ago I was supporting my wife through her Breast Cancer treatment and now….? Now I am three stones lighter, have much more energy and am co-director of a vegan and vegetarian food company! The Steely Good Food Co has gone from a little idea about potatoes in 2015 to a company that is growing steadily month by month!

With regards to the weight loss, I have been asked what ‘diet’ I am on. The answer is NO DIET….all I have done is made a few conscious lifestyle changes and made sure that most of the food I eat is prepared from scratch and I avoid heavily processed products. Crisps used to be my weakness, now my body doesn’t crave them. It’s amazing how your body adapts when you start filling it with good stuff. I also walk my dog Spud on a daily basis and a couple of times a week take him somewhere new for a longer walk. It’s during these longer walks that I let my mind run free as Spud does in the woods or on the beach. I totally clear my head!

This year has a lot of exciting things on the horizon and I intend to enjoy every moment. The fog has lifted, the stress has been reduced and finally I am in a position to embark on personal projects that truly excite me!
